The South Transept
Close this window to return
The South Transept is dominated by the Stanley family pew with its coats of arms painted onto the panel above. Somponents of the arms, including those of the Owen family. The pews of the Penrhos staff are in front.
The memorial window by Hugh Easton is to the present Lord Stanley's elder brothers, suffocated in a tragic sand digging accident in 1947. Note Hugh Easton's mark of the weather vane in the bottom corner. To the right of the high altar is another tragic Stanley grave, that of Elfrida, four years old, drowned in a bathing accident in 1817.
She was the Hon W.O. Stanley's sister.
